"We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. Thank you Matthew for the opportunity to stay; we will long...

"Great place to stay if you are exploring Glencoe area. Incredibly kind hosts, great view, and perfect breakfast before heading out for the day. Would recommend this location as it’s close to Glencoe and another town 10minutes away that was awesome for dinner and shopping. We loved it here :)"

"The darling couple who own and run the B&B are extremely delightful. Our hostess started us off in the morning with a delightful breakfast, good cup of coffee and good advice or directions to our days activities. She made sure we enjoyed ourselves. The bonus was the view from the property was gorgeous."

"We enjoyed use of kitchen /dining space, which included tea, coffee, and proper dishes and utensils. We could store extra food in the refrigerator. The warming closet to hang up wet clothes was amazing. Bed was very comfortable. View of lake was lovely. Host was attentive. Great stepping off point for hiking."

"We met Lucy at the door and she was just wonderful! Very sweet and showed us around our room and the home. Our room was clean, large, and had a giant soaker tub, and a sitting room with a view of the mountains. The food for breakfast was delicious. I had the vegetarian meal and some fruit. I would stay here again for sure."

"Considering the price of the room, this place was a huge let down. Rooms were outdated with hairs in the bed and an old shampoo bottle left in the shower from a previous guest. Bed was uncomfortable. Staff was fine but not overly helpful. Location is the only saving grace. Horrible value for what you pay."
"I was very disappointed with my stay at The Caledonian Hotel, Fort William.
On the first night, I found a piece of glass in my bed, which caused a small cut to my elbow. Although this was reported and the room was cleaned, further issues followed. The next day, my daughter and I returned to find water throughout the bathroom, which was reported but never investigated.
The following morning, the bathroom light began malfunctioning. Despite being told maintenance would attend, nobody arrived. Shortly afterwards, water started pouring through the light fitting, causing it to flash and make electrical noises. Given the obvious risk posed by water and electricity, this was a serious safety concern.
When I requested an alternative room, none was available and staff could not say when one might become free. As a result, I chose to check out early and book accommodation elsewhere.
The hotel provided a partial refund of £70, which I appreciated, but I was disappointed that the final night's stay and breakfast were not refunded given the circumstances.
Fort William is beautiful and the hotel's location is excellent, but unfortunately my stay was overshadowed by repeated issues and a significant safety concern."
"Our stay was excellent at Linnhe Lochside. The view was absolutely beautiful from our caravan and we really enjoyed taking walks around the park. It's so quiet and being right beside the Loch is just amazing. The kids also loved exploring and using the several playgrounds onsite.
We had an issue with our car and the staff onsite were very helpful and pointed us to the onsite mechanic who was able to help us out so that we could use the car for the rest of the holidays. This was great as it enabled us to do everything we planned on our holiday, with minimal impact.
Thank you"
"Overpriced! Hard to locate registration desk. Lady at registration was rushed and gave unclear instructions. Had to go outside, around the building, through a blocked off construction zone and carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs - NO elevator/lift. Told same lady at checkout how inconvenient it was and all she said was, “We said we have construction and we sent you an email.” That information merely said, “We have construction that will cause disruption during daytime hours and we will try to keep it to a minimum.” NOTHING about trudging through a dirt construction zone with luggage and no elevator! Should have received a discount but none was offered. BEWARE!"
"Hotel staff was amazingly helpful and kind. The beach pods were a unique experience, so well designed and it felt so special to hear the sound of the waves. Great value for money. Definitely recommend!"
"The hotel is a quaint building overlooking the Loch. We had a lake view room which was quite spacious. However, the building is very tired. It took three tries to flush the toilet. There was no hairdryer and teeny tiny shampoo and conditioner bottles. This was different than other hotels in Scotland."
