Angel Oak Tree Tours

Angel Oak is a live oak tree on John's Island, South Carolina. It is believed to be older than 500 years and local rumor is that it is 1000 years old. It is over 65 feet tall (20 m) and its canopy shades an area of 17,000 sq feet! Statistics aside, it is a massive tree that sits off of a rural dirt road which makes you feel like you have stepped out of urban America and into the 1700's. It is breathtaking to see in person and if you are near Charleston, you should definitely go see it!

A lot of people went here to possibly do a photoshoot. It’s free to get in. The road to the locations is really unpaved! Traffic is congested down this gravel road with people coming to see the tree

Beautiful tree-wish we had more than 5 minutes to look at it. We weren’t aware of the super early closing time daily 5pm. Make sure you get there WAY before 5pm-closing time. They won’t let you in AND you will be told to leave right at 5pm. Oh well :(
