The room and hotel location were great. The staff was hit and miss. The older gentleman and the lady were friendly and helpful, but the two young men were not helpful, and downright rude with bad attitudes.

This location is on the canal. There are 2 rooms on each floor that face other directions. Our room ending with a 4 faced the courtyard with a large neon billboard glowing until midnight. We were there during the heatwave and our room was a sauna when we arrived. We had to request an extra room key to activate the AC while we were away to cool down our room - which it did during the 90+ degree days! We only used the room to sleep. There are minimal amenities with this hotel which we knew in advance and wasn't a consideration in choosing this hotel. The location of the hotel was convenient. Front staff was accommodating with helping us cool down the room and it was refreshing to come back to our room after a searingly hot day. Room size was a bit tight. Bathroom door couldn't fully open because of the bed location. I would stay here again, but look more closely at alternatives. One thing to expect during your stay in Amsterdam (besides the bicycles!) is the large garbage containers around the city are emptied by people looking for returnable bottles and all the garbage ends on the streets to blow around. The seagulls have figured this out and further spread the garbage around the streets and sidewalk. It's shocking how bad this is. This is a beautiful historic city with many treasures reflecting its past, and I would expect the leaders to take a little more pride in embracing that for residents and visitors.

Quiet and nice area. Great view. But the heat did not work and the bed was horrible. No double bed, just two very small mattreses next to each other which slipped appart with the tiniest move. The bottom ones were covered in plastic (so was the door handle. Very weird). Our sleep was terrible as we felt we would roll out of bed with the slightest turn. No breakfast so keep that in mind if you’re a morning foodie!
