It is the staff that make this place.
I haven't stayed at a hostel that provides each guest with a pot bag before, so that was a pleasant surprise too.
The facilities were nicer than past hostels I've been to and the dorms were comfy. The code lock broke on the door for the room I was in during my stay, and the person who fixed it did not think to leave a note with the new number. As a result I was woken early in the morning by my roommate returning from a nightshift and being unable to get in. Neither of us were impressed and thought it was unprofessional. I do not think there were enough toilets for guests, with one being out of order and another poorly designed, resulting in the door not closing.
I was told that there would be a free breakfast. If you count toast, spread, and hot drinks as 'breakfast' that is indeed the case. I've read reviews that stated there were things like pancakes or cereal on offer. These guests must have been there at a great time.
There are dolphin cruises and markets nearby, which I recommend. The supermarkets aren't open particularly late though and I ended up getting a take away twice as a result. There is a Port Canal shopping centre which has free wifi, which is useful considering the backpackers' idea of wifi for guests is 100MB per night staying. I stayed 3 nights but chewed through my 300MB within a few hours.
