「We stayed at the Gin when we dropped our son off at W&L. The mattress was average and the electrical outlets are minimal, but the location, style, and hotel bar overlooking downtown more than made up for any deficiencies. We will be back for another bees knees soon. 」

「It was so elegant for a economic hotel option. The desk staff told me that it was family owned and one of one. There are no others very well kept. Although I did have to come out to the desk during breakfast because there was no milk for the cereal. The kitchen staff member was actually out at the front desk talking to the desk clerk and immediately apologized saying," my bad! That's on me sir. I'll go get the milk right away!" He apologized at least four times and I told him once was enough!」

「The rooms were immaculate. Front desk staff and housekeeping were very accomodating. The entire hotel was well taken care of. The only negative for the hotel is that the breakfast was so so. I would most definitely stay here again. 」

「I was thankful for the friendly staff and clean room. The suite was absolutely gorgeous and the cooking stove was very nice to have along with the full fridge.」

「Spent two nights because we were in the area to purchase a car. Very pleasantly surprised - the online photos didn't do justice to how lovely the hotel is. Old shoe factory and they paid homage to shoes everywhere you looked (but very tastefully done). Very clean and the staff was friendly and competent. Within walking distance to the town and other restaurants. There was a nice paved walking/biking path along the James River below the hotel - they supplied bikes and it was a beautiful ride....
