On top of the highest mountain in Germany! #Adventure #hiking #localgem
The accent by cable car to the top of the Zugspitz. Garmisch, Germany.
Garmisch
Zugspitze, top of 🇩🇪
Travel by cable car to the summit of Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain on the border to Austria. The Eibsee Cable Car opened in 1963 and connects the lower station, 3,192 feet above sea level, with the top station at 9,678 feet above sea level. The Eibsee Cable Car belongs to Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG, the company operating the cog railway and most cable cars, gondola lifts, and chairlifts in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. This means you can make round trips using both the cog railway and the cable car. The Eibsee Cable Car runs over two pylons, which are about 213 ft and 279 ft high. Two cabins take 44 people each and are suspended from two track ropes and moved by two haulage ropes. The tramway can accommodate 300 giggling picture snapping tourists per direction each hour. The elevation gain of 6,398 ft is the highest of all aerial cableways achieved in a single section. German engineering rocks ! NOTICE - If you have a thing about heights AND your claustrophobic ...... Think hard before subjecting the rest of us to your over-dramatic panic attack. As amusing as it might be at first.... it gets old after the 4000 foot mark and we are likely to vote you off the cable car around 6000 feet!
