This was a lovely stay right near the beachfront. Lovely lobby. Room was very basic, but you could see lake Michigan sparkling, so that was a treat. Staff was very nice. Dining hours were limited and coffee in the lobby was $2.50 for drip, but we found a nice coffee shop in Zion that suited our breakfast needs. Pool was under renovation, as noted on the website, but more than made up for with beach walks and black oak savanna trails just outside the door.

Wonderful hotel and wonderful location. You can walk straight from the hotel to the beach. They have an outside terrace where you can sit and eat or sip a cocktail at night. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The restaurant can get pretty crowded, so be advised you will need to make a reservation.

We really like the location of the hotel. Our room was simple but had a great view of Lake Michigan. We feel so comfortable staying there. The staff is kind and helpful, it's not overcrowded and has a restaurant on site. We plan to stay longer on our next visit.

The hotel and location was great. I was frustrated that the pool, hot tub and sauna area was and has been closed for 4+ years and its still being advertised on Expedia as available,. Everything else was great

Great location right on the beach. The hotel has no pool, workout room, and coffee is $2.50 except for the single cup brew in your room, but rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. If you want walk out beach access, it's worth the stay if you don't need much more than lodging and a decent restaurant on site. I'd come again.

The setting of the Illinois State Park Beach "Dunes Resort" is ever so peacefully tranquil...Staff above and beyond kind and helpful! (...they even "upped" my room to a 2nd floor deluxe king with a walk out balcony overlooking the Lake Michigan beachfor my original Expedia price!!) Mattresses are soooooo comfortable, i don't want to wake up! Nolan's Dune Resort restaurant i in the resort is OUTSTANDING! Each menu item is "made from scratch" and without preservatives/additives. Exquisitely plated and reasonably priced. Excellent service every time i have visited over past few years. The delightful ambience of the restaurant and resort matches the peacefulness of the Lake Michigan settinff! "Best kept secret" for business conferences weddings...or just a relaxing weekend!
