Where do I start?! I’m so happy I went with Plateau-Rosa for my birthday trip! It was exactly what I was looking for - quiet, relaxing, and with a great view of the Matterhorn. I was warmly greeted by Pierre at the front desk and shown to my room, which was tidy, bright, and had a large balcony. Location-wise, it’s about 20 mins walk from the train station though there’s a bus. I didn’t mind walking as I got to look around. The hotel is located right across from the cable car station so ideal for heading up to Glacier paradise. You can also go for a hike on the hill across from the hotel (I snapped a pic of the hotel from there). The spa with sauna is tiny but really comfy - I guess I benefited from going during the offseason! Breakfast options were great especially the various Swiss breads you could try and the staff there was always kind and helpful. If returning to Zermatt or recommending to someone else, without a doubt I’d recommend Plateau-Rosa!

We picked this hotel because it has some rooms with a view of the Matterhorn. The staff were very friendly, the hotel is super clean and the beds are comfortable. It is quite a hike to the hotel from the train station so you may want to take a taxi to the hotel with your luggage. Breakfast was good and breakfast room had big picture windows with a view of the Madderhorn.

I was so glad it was a bit away from the town center, although it was only 15 min walk away. With convenient electric bus, going around was so easy. And the fact that you have no other building between your room and Matterhorn, what more would you want. I want to go back there again soon even with exorbitant price in Switzerland.

An incredible Matterhorn view room — the deck was amazing! Room and beds were clean, and the staff was super lovely, even letting us store our bags after checkout for one last hike. Walking distance to everything in town and convenient for local buses. Perfect spot for enjoying the mountains.

The lodge was a simple bare bones property, but the staff was pleasant and helpful, the complementary breakfast was nice and the view from the dining room was magnificent. The only comments are that the shower area was too small, there was no in-room refrigerator, the view from the room was of the construction next door and there were no face cloths available. We were only there 2 nights so it was ok for the short stay.

Great stay, would stay again!

Wonderful, quaint family owned hotel. Everything you need with the kindest staff. We checked in late night- be sure to mention it to the staff and they helped us with so many details in our short stay. Our only hesitation was a concern that after reading some reviews the hotel might be further from the main downtown area in Zermatt- psssh, perfect location just a short walk (and thats from a suburbanite american) from everything. Plus, gorgeous views right from our room. The pictures are exactly what you get in person, maybe even a little better. Glad we chose to stay here.

The view of the Matterhorn is unobstructed and simply amazing. The breakfast is delicious. The sauna is incredible and the gym is totally satisfactory. And the hospitality warm, helpful and professional.Two minute walk to the gondola. 10-20 minute walk to anything in town.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, convenient stay near the Matterhorn gondola, this family-run hotel is the perfect choice. The location offers easy access to the bus, making it incredibly simple to get around. The staff are exceptionally kind and welcoming, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, with a genuine sense of care in everything they do. It’s clear that the owners take great pride in their hotel, and their attention to detail truly shines. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone planning a visit to Zermatt. I plan to return every year if I can—this hotel has become my go-to spot for exploring the breathtaking Matterhorn!

The view of the Matterhorn was worth the price! Breakfast was great and the front desk staff was so accommodating and welcoming. The room we got was very spacious and I’m still dreaming of that balcony. Just an FYI, it’s an uphill walk outside of the city center. This place made Zermatt such a lovely experience.
