Top Yamanashi Gem Museum Hotel Reviews
HOTEL MYSTAYS Fuji Onsen Resort
10/10 Excellent
"This was a very luxurious hotel with amazing views of Mt. Fuji. The property was clean, the staff was helpful and friendly. The onsen was very clean and relaxing. You had everything and more available in the changeroom. Water stations were handy to fill up your water bottles. The rooms were spacious and functional. Very quiet hotel for a great night's sleep."
Kasuitei Ohya
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed one night at Kasuitei Ooya, and it turned out to be the highlight of our time in Japan. The ryokan gets the traditional experience right without it feeling staged — tatami rooms, yukata, and a real sense of care in everything. Our room had a lake view and a private bath, which our teenagers enjoyed as much as we did. The kaiseki dinner was outstanding: beautifully presented course after course with local ingredients we didn't see anywhere else on the trip, and breakfast the next morning was just as good. The onsen is on the 7th floor, and the same floor has a viewing area where we caught the clearest Mt Fuji view of our stay at sunrise. What tied it all together was the staff. From check-in through to the shuttle back to the station, they were warm, unhurried, and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked. If you're deciding whether to build a ryokan night into a Japan trip, this is the place to do it."

"The hotel was relatively modern, kept in good order and had a lovely rooftop deck. The staff were very kind and it was very convenient that they spoke English which I wasn't necessarily expecting. They didn't include many amenities in the room and there was no place to get amenities except at the front desk which was closed in the late evening and early morning. It would be nice if they maybe had a little amenities counter that they left out overnight because I didn't investigate which amenities were included in the room until after the desk was closed and then I needed some things that I couldn't get. I appreciate it that breakfast was included but there were very limited options that were preset and you had to schedule your meal time ahead of time which I found kind of stressful. But that might also just be a cultural difference. I think it would be more friendly to different dietary restrictions and perhaps less logistically difficult if they just had a few self service items people could course from. They were willing to accommodate my food issues which was appreciated. These are minor issues that were really more about my personal preference than anything else. It also did seem a little more pricey than other similar properties I stayed at in the area. Although the rooms were a little larger and the property was a little more updated. It's a lovely property and staff were great. Totally a fine place to stay in the area especially if you don't have my same preferences."

"Wish someone would’ve told me about how much of a slope this hotel is on. After hiking Mount Fuji and walking up and down to the hotel was painful. The lounge access is a must! Food was amazing there every single meal was outstanding. The Onsen was amazing as well, well maintained and clean. Wish they cleaned the cob webs with spiders around some of the windows though. One of the staff also told me I didn’t need to buy a bus ticket in advance to Mishima station which proved to be wrong since all 3 buses were sold out when I got to the bus station to buy the ticket like he had told me. Overall good hotel."
Kawaguchiko Hotel
8/10 Good
"This is an older hotel with a good history and a great location right across from the lake. The staff is unusually good most hotels do not take your luggage to your room anymore so it still has it’s old good habits. I was very disappointed when I called it about 230 for the shuttle bus to the hotel. Took a while for them to answer the phone and then they said they couldn’t come until 3 o’clock because that’s when they start running the shuttle. That is not the kind of service I would expect from a hotel like this. I didn’t mention it when I was there, but the Internet was really bad. I couldn’t count on even getting my email out to my home and overseas in a reliable way. But if I had a choice, I’d probably go back again."
