"Old hotel that is a little outdated - no elevators - making moving luggage a challenge. There was a plant around the property that gave off a bad musty smell during this time of year. Noticed the smell in other areas around Wilderness, so it may have not been addressable. Breakfast was great, pool was nice. Wish it had a hot tub."

"I was looking forward to wonderful weekend away but the hotel just does not live up to its pictures, maybe it did 10 years ago. The hotel needs a serious refurb as well as the grounds of the hotel. The pool is definitely not this clean and blue as in the pictures anymore - it needs a paint job and a proper clean. The bed I slept in made such a noise when you moved, it was terrible. "This is one of our favorite half-way stops on our way down to Cape Town. Wildernis is a quant little town with world-class restaurants and The Wildernis Hotel is such a great place to stay. Lovely pool, padel, tennis and mini-golf facilities. Excellent breakfasts! And very, very friendly staff."
