Nishimuraya Honkan
10/10 Excellent
"Exceptional. Beautiful ryokan, exquisite kaiseki dinner and breakfast"

Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei
8/10 Good
"This is our second time at this hotel. The only disappointment is the buffet breakfast. Food was just okay, nothing special, no fresh omelets. Last year we had private dining in our room which was special, this year in a private dining room. The dinners were very good and well presented. I asked for their special sake as an aperitif and they served for every dinner. Their onsen had a hot tub, large pool and outdoor pool and afterwards had several free drinks . Their staff is very kind and we especially liked Ming , our waitress during the private dinners. This hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to town , or train station. We enjoyed our stay."

Kawaguchiya Kinosaki Riverside Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel is gorgeous. The staff are so friendly and helpful and they were so kind and patient with me while I tried speaking in Japanese. I had fell and hurt my ankle, lost my train ticket on way and was charged twice and lost my travel adaptor and they were so kind with me as I was a little stressed. They gave me lots of help and instructions. The hotel facilities are great and the ryokan style rooms are beautiful. I can't recommend this hotel enough. They even had my 2 suitcases taken to the train station with only 1hrs notice for 400¥. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

Kinosaki Onsen Ichidaya
10/10 Excellent
"This was the perfect place to stay for a first time visit to a Japanese Onsen town. Excellent location on the river within walking distance of all the included spas, many shops and places to eat. Recommendation from a staff member for great food/good value in 2 blocks. We definitely had our favorites eateries and Onsen, but the whole experience was just lovely and Ichidaya made it so. Most staff very pleasant, helpful and patient with our non-existent Japanese. The room in front was spacious, overlooking the river, and had all the amenities we needed to visit the spas in style.
Only negatives were us mobility challenged seniors not getting access to the room before 3 PM after 3 flights in 24 hours. They were insistent on that, though they did keep bags for us until check-in. Also the slick steep wooden stairs were a challenge and we would’ve preferred a first floor room. But we managed taking care to use the railing, move slowly & get help with luggage. No complaints on the room itself -comfy twin beds, big picture windows and a heated toilet seat with bidet. Everything very clean. Didn’t opt for meals there, but they smelled delicious cooking. Lots of restaurants and shops within five minutes and the view from the ancient stone bridges down the river with the weeping willows was just gorgeous.
About the town, easy walking around, 12 minutes to ropeway or train station, all onsens closer but we couldn’t find breakfast before 9am or dinner after 6pm on Saturday. Hmm."

Hotel Kinparo
10/10 Excellent
"I couldn’t have asked for a better staff. They were so nice and patient with my travel group of ten. They took in our luggage early and had them in our rooms at check-in time. They provided a bus to Kinosaki throughout the day. Kadue was spectacular and her English was good.
The views were amazing throughout the entire stay! Views of the water from the moment you walk in, with a viewing area on every single floor, and in the rooms the views were spectacular. The rooms and bathroom areas were really clean and spacious. Snacks and a tea set was provided. The artwork throughout the property was beautiful and serine, and the layout of the property itself was gorgeous.
The food was delicious!
1) The Walrus Cafe is a mix of pizza, pastas and Japanese food at decent prices. There are a plethora of games to choose from. They also have free coffee. We ate there twice in our two night stay.
2) Breakfast buffet was delicious and with a lot of variety
3) Ramen/ Japanese restaurant was good too! We had appetizers here and the food was fresh and yummy
4) You need reservations for Japanese dinner; we didn’t have one
The onsen was amazing!!! Clean, offered quality supplies needed, and had outside and inside options. It was my first onsen experience and I am grateful I started here.
My family wanted massages and our staff helped book them and for a reasonable cost too. The masseuse went to the rooms, which was very convenient. They also have massage chairs on the first floor at no cost."

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Kinosaki
10/10 Excellent
"The rooms are spacious and have a pretty view of the river though do not opt for the cot if you cannot get a triple
Buffet is generous but does not change so recommend not prebooking food if staying more than one night. For breakfast and dinner it’s decent but to gets repetitious.
Walkable to town but not central. Does have limited shuttle service. "
