"The property and villas were stunning! Staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Everyone knew us by name! Loved having breakfast included with many delicious options. Having a stand alone villa was a treat. No noisy neighbors! We spent a couple mornings at the main pool and usually ended up in our plunge pool in the afternoons. The views from everywhere are amazing! Although we loved our Sunset Villa, it was warm in the late afternoon when trying to get ready for dinner. No way to block out the sun in the bathroom.
The town of Las Catalinas was a bit of a let down. Maybe because we were there off season but other than a few restaurants, there wasn't anything going on. No shops or entertainment. Pretty beach but no place to rent beach chairs and make a day of it.
The only excursion we did was a coffee/chocolate tour at Tio Leo Coffee. Highly recommend! It was about 1 hour away.
Very relaxing trip, which is what we were looking for. Casa Chameleon made us feel very special."
"Exactly as expected. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again. Gabriela was extremely responsive to any questions and concerns. The area is close to many beaches by walking or a quick Uber ride. Amenities nearby and the vibe of surf side is truly a great experience."
"Just a heads up that this is not a typical hotel experience. The property feels more like a quiet, underdeveloped residential area than a full-service hotel, which may or may not be what you’re looking for.
There were very limited services and amenities, and whenever we asked staff for help, they often seemed confused or unsure how to assist. It felt less like hospitality and more like we were inconveniencing them, which was disappointing—especially given that we were there for our honeymoon.
The hotel itself is nice enough and the rooms are clean, but the overall experience didn’t match expectations. The property was nearly empty during our stay (we only saw a couple of other guests), yet we were given a city-facing room instead of an ocean view. When we asked if there were other options, we were told the hotel was fully booked, which didn’t align with what we were seeing.
The broader development also felt a bit unusual—very quiet, somewhat sterile, and lacking the character or energy you might expect in a destination like Costa Rica.
Overall, it’s not a bad place, but it’s important to set expectations before booking."
"We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa and loved the full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and outdoor seating area. The pool is large and warm and we had it all to ourselves all 3 days we went swimming. (Closes at 7pm so slight improvement would be longer hours.)
Grocery store a couple minute walk away so very convenient if you want to get supplies for some meals.
Location would feel inconvenient if you do not have a rental car. (Beach access is a long walk). But with a car we loved how it was central to so many beaches!
Tip: bring your own dish soap and cloth as they don’t provide. Also the beds are only made up with sheets, but when we asked for blankets it was no issue to get them."
