A pleasant onsen hotel by the river

Watarase is a traditional Japanese onsen hotel not glamorous but very comfortable with spacious Japanese style rooms excellent food and friendly service There are four large private outdoor onsens to choose from as well as huge outdoor public onsens Highly recommended

we spent a night in the hotel so we can start hiking Kumano Kodo early next day. nice hotel, they claim they have the biggest outdoor hot spring pool, but we used smaller family pool, the setting is very like outdoor pool.

宿泊客は三か所の温泉に入ることができ、露天風呂や家族風呂もあって良かった。家族風呂（露天）は４つあり、予約なしで空いていたら入れます。ちょうど小雪が降っているときでしたが、ちょうどよく長く湯に浸かっていられました。本宮大社に近いのも魅力だと思います。

立派な温泉付きホテルでした！

一泊の滞在でしたが、温泉から夕食まで心から満喫できました。 アクセスは紀伊田辺駅からバスで約1時間強。熊野本宮にもバスですぐの距離ですが、本数少ないので注意。 出発日には発心門王子まで送迎していただいたので、快適に熊野古道の中辺路最終盤を歩けました。 温泉は露天も含めてたくさん種類がありましたが、雨も相まってかぬるま湯が多くて少し冷えました。家族露天風呂なるものもあって、家族やカップルには嬉しい貸切も。 夕食には熊野牛のステーキ丼を地ビールと頂き、とても満足でした。部屋も広く静かで非常に快適、古いなりによく整備、清掃が行き届いた印象を受けました。

建物自体は古さを感じますが、清掃が行き届いていて、トイレも清潔感がありました。 また、大露天風呂、貸し切り家族露天風呂ともきれいに整えてあり、ゆったり・まったりすることができました。 熊野散策にも案内バスを出していただき、助かりました。
