"The shuttle was easy once the airport staff corrected the instructions the hotel had given us. But overall I was very disappointed with this stay. We stayed in several budget motels all over NZ including another gateway in Christchurch and they were all vastly superior to this one. The comforter had stains, the doorway to the bathroom had rot and mold, the skylight in the bathroom was covered in dirt and black mold, there was a bad stain on the upholstered chair, and there was no hair dryer in the room. I had to ask the front desk to find one from another room. Additionally, the noise is so bad we barely slept. I understand the hotel cannot do much about the noise but be advised if you need a good nights sleep before is flight you may want to stay somewhere that has soundproofing. When our neighbor turned on water it sounded like a jet engine. The trash truck emptied the dumpster at 5:30am. People talked outside our room after 11pm. Overall it was a bad experience except for the convenient shuttle run by the airport. "

"great pick up from airport and great accom, not much around locally for last minute things however so had to get an uber to the shops on arrival, its not walking distance to the shops "

"If you enjoy emergency Govt housing vibes and a 60s toilet block asthetic then this place is for you. Lets be clear its cheap but should be cheaper. Its a dump. The locals congregate in the pokie room investing there Govt income or chain smoke outside between bets. This palace is advertised as 4 star. How it achieved or keeps this rating is a mystery to this particular victim. The shuttle service and staff were good. They can only work with what they have. Avoid."
