The hotel is next to the train station. It's convenient to explore Takayama. The staff is super friendly.

booked an economy double bed room, but at check-in the counter staff showed me a single room with a super single bed instead. When I requested to change to a double bed, one staff said there were no more rooms available. Later, another staff said a room change was possible but the price would be doubled. This showed poor communication among the staff. I also asked the counter staff if I could park at parking lot No. 1 and even showed her a photo and the CCTV for confirmation. She agreed, but later another restaurant partner came to our car to scold my family about the parking. This was very upsetting and unprofessional. However, the buffet breakfast was not bad and the breakfast staff were friendly and polite.

I stayed 6 nights. I've stayed at this hotel forbthe past 10 years. The location is excellent, opposite the tain & bus station. Staff are extremely helpful & they service room daily. The hotel is basic but has what you need I love it.

This place was a good over night stay. I had accidentally booked a smoking room and was concerned because I am highly allergic to smoke. It turned out the room did not smell of smoke at all. The room was VERY small but I already was expecting that, so just be aware their rooms are small. The restaurant serves hida beef and it is amazing!

Country Hotel Takayama provides excellent customer services in both Japanese and English. Location is excellent and convenient as it is within couple minutes walking distance to both JR Takayama station and Nohi bus terminal.

Location of the hotel is the best. Opposite the Nohi Bus Center, 100m away from the Train station. 150m away from the famous Hida Beef restaurant.

Small rooms, but this was expected as per the description from Expedia. It would be right to have more than one suitcase in the room. Very convenient location literally right across from the main bus and train station. Lots of food options everywhere. The included breakfast was great.

Affordable price, good location, opposite Nohibus, a short walk from the JR station. Downstairs, there is a family mart. Can easily walk to the morning market and the old town. Convenient.

Great location super small room

The location is great, just opposite to the bus terminal, and there's a Family Mart downstairs. Check in and check out is fast. The staff is kind and helpful. But the room is too small, not 12SM as listed, maximum 8SM I guess. Sadly there is no desk nor chair in the room, only two single beds and a small refrigerator. BTW, they will not reply your email if you write to them prior to your arrival.

Actually, everything is perfect. Anyway, the room can't protect any voice from other room. Air Conditioner is not good for control the temperature in the room. However, the size is quite small but it is not the wrong by the hotel. It just me that may need the big one. If i go alone, this hotel will be my first choice for relax.

An old and bit run down property with rooms on the small side but I found the hotel comfortable and had everything I needed for a 2 night stay where I was out and about all day… just needed somewhere to put my head down at night. Noise from neighbouring rooms was easily heard at all hours. I slept with the window ajar for fresh and cool air. I’d stay there again if travelling by myself and budget was a factor.

The place is right across the train and bus stations making it an excellent choice as we booked an early morning bus tour. The room we had ( paid extra 500 yen to check in early) was very tiny bit we made it work for us, we still had twin beds too as I chose this set up. It has the smallest kettle/ boiling bwater appliance we've ever used, not even one litre! But we managed. It was also easy to request for extra pillow. It has the thinnest and smallest pillow we've ever used! The other best part of our stay here is the tasty and healthy breakfast. It was very filling for us. It even had a machine that dispenses corn soup, beef consomme and Oolong tea in one appliance. It is a great experience staying at Country Hotel without the expensive rate. Thank your to the helpful staff, especially the cleaning tran, we forgot to put the no disturb sign before we left as we were in a hurry and we left a lot of stuff on our beds, including one of our luggage. Thanks for reorganising our mess!

The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the central bus and train station, as well as nearby attractions like the market, float museum, old town, and the preservation area with its thatched houses. It's also close to a variety of restaurants, stores, and bars. The cleaning team did an excellent job maintaining the room, but the property could use some attention. There were unexplained white stains and marks on the walls, and some dust on the fixtures. Additionally, receiving only one key card was somewhat inconvenient. The toilet was quite noisy and had to "prepare" before use, though the exact meaning of this was unclear. On the positive side, the staff were friendly, professional, and approachable, and the breakfast offered a good range of Japanese and Western options. Overall, while the stay was satisfactory, I would not choose to return due to personal preferences and a desire for a different aesthetic and room size.
