"What a great night at the Catherine wheel. We met Debbie when we checked in and she was so warm and friendly she made everything very easy for us. The room was clean, modern and very quaint. The food was outstanding in the restaurant with a good menu selection. There were 11 of us for dinner and you could tell everything was fresh and home made the pie was especially incredible. Thank you Catherine wheel we will be back again!! "

"Exceptional B&B in Beautiful English Countryside
We were looking for a scenic place to rest up after our overnight flight to the UK from the USA and found this amazing place.
Located in a beautiful, rural area with plenty to see and experience nearby. The property is stunning and very well-maintained.
John and Elizabeth were amazing hosts. Warm, genuinely friendly, accommodating, and fascinating in their own life experiences. It's not every day that you get to meet an Olympic medalist!

"The location is a stand out, about a 15 minute walk to Westgate. It was perfect for an affordable stay close to the centre.
It was super easy to check in and out, the instructions couldn’t be more clear.
Absolutely would stay again!"

"Stayed one night, room was nice - clean and spacious, lovely bathroom and amenities. Had the breakfast the next day and it was one of the nicest hotel breakfasts I've had. Lots of choice included. Only personal gripe is that the website doesn't highlight that some rooms are only accessible via stairs (think they might have been putting in a lift at the time) I would have booked different rooms within the hotel if I'd realised but that wouldn't be an issue for most people."
"This is a great find, well thought out with lots of nice detail and touches such as generous sized towels, nice shower products and comfy mattresses. They even provide hair straighteners. My only small criticism is that the blinds don’t block out much light, and the waterproof mattress cover makes the sheets slide about and come completely off the bed during the night. But overall, really good and recommended."
"I feel the stay could have been better with greater attention to service. We paid for early check in, as we were attending a wedding and wanted to drop our things off/get ready. We were told that our twin bed set up had yet to be turned into separate beds from the king bed. When we got back at 12:30am, the beds hadn't been separated and at that point, just wanted to sleep.
It was a really uncomfortable night. The room was stiflingly hot and there were only too small upper windows, not letting enough air in. It got to the point at 5am where it became unbearable, so we attempted to put the supplied fan on, but it made so much noise due to a bent fan, thankfully we managed to adjust it to stop the noise.
Everything else was fine. Breakfast was good, the staff on reception were friendly... it's just a shame that the housekeeping service, broken fan, and poor ventilation in the room let the experience down. I couldnt bear to think what it would be like to stay in one of those rooms during a heatwave."
"Rooms are just too small unless you are literally just walking in and sleeping. I needed a desk to do some work and it was really quite a struggle to do anything."
Cricklade House Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western
10/10 Excellent
"Nice little find…. Greeted by lovely staff. Room clean and nicely decorated, looked out to a magnificent view. Impressed with the bar and conservatory and again the view. Had a long journey so we decided to eat a evening meal at the hotel. Was not disappointed, the food was superb. Enjoyed the pool, steam room and sauna the following day. Very clean, could not fault.
Left the hotel feeling very satisfied with our choice and would love to return again. Ideal area if you want to visit the ‘Clarkson Empire’ and Cotswolds."
"Check-in was good, staff member was pleasant and the room was well presented. Unfortunately the room stank of cigarette smoke and we couldn't be moved to another room. Before I would stay here again I would insist that the room was a non-smoking room, it was truly unpleasant.
Nice and simple continental breakfast in a lovely breakfast room with views over the river."
"The room was well maintained with an excellent shower. One tile n the bathroom needs re- grouting but no big deal . Room 129.
Staff were generally friendly, but TBH we didn’t have a lot of interaction with them which was fine for us. If get breakfast was warm & a adequate selection, though a mall amount of manners by some guests wouldn’t go a miss. The location is the star, just 20 mins walk to the centre & simple to navigate.
Tight parking on the front of the premises, but plenty of spaces around the back .
Overall the hotel ticks all the boxes for a base if your visiting Oxford for a few days ."
"Welcoming and warm from the moment you step inside the Store! All the staff were friendly and more than happy to help with any request!
Only the gym room was a little on the small side, if fitness is needed for part of your stay you may need to find a local gym.
Breakfast was great and a thoughtful take on the UK staples… overall, incredibly happy and will return for sure!"
