Friday Harbor Suites
10/10 Excellent
"Very clean older property. It was nicely maintained and had a ton of space for the three of us. It was like we had out own apartment. Very walkable to shops and restaurants."
"The Orca Inn is a great place to stay, as long as you understand where you are staying and as long as you determine ahead of time that it meets your needs
The Orca Inn is not fancy. If you want luxury then book a luxury hotel (and pay luxury rates). The Orca Inn may not be fancy but it is fun, clean, quirky, and the staff are friendly and responsive. It’s not on the waterfront but it’s a pretty easy walk to get there. Maybe 15 minutes?
A lot of the negative reviews I have seen are really frustrating because the Orca Inn is very transparent and upfront about what it is. It is a great option for people on a budget who want to experience San Juan Island. It works for me because I am a very active traveler and I don’t spend all day lounging in my room. I wake up, explore the island all day, and come back to my room to shower and sleep. In the morning there is complimentary coffee available in the office so I drink my coffee and set off for the day. There is not a restaurant on site but there are plenty in the area and my room had a little fridge for leftovers
In summary it’s a fun quirky motel with a fascinating history. If you book a room, pay attention to what you are reserving and make sure it meets your needs"
"The hotel was in a very convenient location. Perfect for your fur babies to take on a walk. The room was clean and well equipped to host our 1 year old and 2 dogs. We had a lovely time. The hotel manager had excellent suggestions to explore on the island. Will definitely will stay with them next time."
"I think we booked a high end room as it was pricy but had a jetted tub, and fireplace in the room. The location was great as we could walk everywhere except the National Park. "
"We enjoyed a 3 night stay at this beautiful property in early September. We walked up the hill from the ferry to a warm welcome from Farhad who gave us an overview of the property, what to expect form our stay, tips on seeing the island, and restaurant recommendations. He then led us to our room, the charming Garden Suite.
The property is lovely with a beautiful garden, a gazebo and front porch to relax.
All of the guests gather for a delicious full breakfast at 8:30, cooked and served by Farhad using fresh ingredients from the garden and eggs from the resident hens.
Fresh cookies are delivered to each room around 7 PM, delicious Farhad also plays piano for his guests at 7:30 each night. Our schedule did not allow for attendance every night, but we thoroughly enjoyed the music when we were able to make it. He even has a harpsichord which he demonstrated and was a real treat.
The location is walking distance to countless restaurants, shops, whale watching and adventure companies, rental cars and more. Note the property is a block or 2 up the hill from town, so might not be walkable for some."
"Beautiful getway. Clean nice staff ,close to ferry harbor and walking distance town. You dont need a car to explore the beautiful town . Highly recommend"
