Our stay at La Ventana was incredible! We loved how everything was clean and they provided great amenities. The location of the stay was also a plus, as it is in the center of everything within walking distance.
The property met my needs perfectly. It was conveniently located, clean and convenient to access. Note there are no onsite staff, checkin is virtual as is all communications. The 2 Queen unit i was in had two seperate bedrooms, and an in-unit private bathroom/shower. It was clean and recently renovated with simple, functional finishes.
The property is in a good location. However, my door handle felt a bit broken although you don't need it because of the electronic lock. Overall the location met my needs. However, i feel that some of the interior could be improved and would have liked some capability of storing luggage securely which is something i often use on the day i'm checking out.
This was super fun. Great location in the middle of it all. Comfortable bed. Nice room. Could use a chair and side table.

Four night stay
Newly furnished room. Nice fridge, nice microwave, nice decor overall. But very noisy location, on top of a bar! Loud music till past midnight and some nights 2 am. Like the floor was shaking. Didn’t warn me. When I reach out to change room, manager declined. This was a business trip, needed good night sleep, but didn’t get any. Oh one more thing, bed sheets were paper thin. Good bar and food in walking distance.
The picture in the add is nothing like the place. They should really change that, although I understand why they would take a picture of the outside because it looks like a downtown hotel that sells rooms by the hour.
However, inside the rooms are renovated clen and modern. They have a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave, and a tv with streaming services, so it’s cozy enough to kick it in.
You’re in the center of the Gaslamp and all the attractions are walkable. Super convenient for conventions, or music festivals.
Then there’s the shared bathroom situation. So clean, and the showers are their own private rooms as well as the toilets.
I was very pleasantly surprised.
If you are coming to SD with a group to have some fun l ventana would be a great place to rent with them.
Very Bad Experience – Would Not Recommend
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The room wasn’t very clean, and there was no private bathroom or shower — you have to share with everyone on the floor. The shower door didn’t lock from the inside, so anyone could walk in while it was occupied, which felt very unsafe.
My room was directly above a night bar, and the loud music from 8 PM until 2 AM made it impossible to rest, especially when I had to wake up at 6 AM for work. On top of that, there was a strong smell of cigarettes (or something similar) throughout the area.
There was no thermostat in the room, so you couldn’t adjust the temperature for comfort. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s not suitable for rest, work trips, or anyone expecting basic comfort and privacy.
Everything was just walking distance and it seem like it was just me at the whole build no lines. I enjoyed that and the rules where easy to follow. Definitely will book again. I love the Sports bar infront, Barleymash.
For the price you pay, this is a great option. It is definitely bare bones, but you have all the basics you need. There are some rooms that are more exposed to the street noise than others. If you are concerned about noise, make sure to work with the staff to get a more insulated room. There are shared showers as advertised. The showers are up to date hotel grade showers that are gendered and lock from the inside. I felt safe and had no problem using them as a woman. I barely saw any other guests while there. I would recommend if you are on a longer trip to pack a smaller bag for your nights here to make it easier to get up the stairs and store clothes. The location is excellent and accessible to all things downtown. The hotel staff was very responsive and friendly vua app communication. Parking at park it on market was reasonably priced.

This self-managed hostel is right in the Gaslamp area of SD which was great for night life and transportation. The property managers are very communicative and responsive to questions.
My room was well kept, expect there was a wall light without anywhere to plug it in and a slight draft from a broken window. Otherwise, the other amenities in the room were great.
The host was responsive and helpful. Great location. Is located next to a busy restaurant but room was still quiet. Showers and restrooms were clean. I felt safe.
One of the best locations to stay in Gaslamp. Everything is walking distance. The rooms are well ventilated and decent size to relax and re energize.
The only downside is that the room did not come with an iron or hair dryer. Besides that, it was a great place. I would definitely come back to stay there.

There's no bathroom in the room. I'm a frequent traveler and I've never worried about whether a hotel room has a bathroom or not.
I would not stay there again there is no bathroom/shower in your room. You have to leave your room just to use bathroom/showers that are in the hallway
It was advertised as a Hotel. It is a Hostel, there is no parking. The front door has a Padlock on it and the only way to get in is with a code. The front sign is covered in graffiti and stickers.
Extremely unsafe place, dirty bathrooms, small window that leads somewhere very loud. Moreover, a lot of people that stay in this "hotel" do some illegal things. If you have any other options, dont go there
