The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't halted our zeal for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with the new challenges of traveling:

• Look into what rules and restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check government advisories before booking.
• Keep your face mask on during airport screening. A TSA employee will ask you to temporarily lower your mask for identification purposes.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
• Put any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you're taking food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
