"The onsen was just okay. I anticipated much better. The room was fine. What really bothered us was that they said that reservations made on Expedia do not support making a reservation for dinner. And, such reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Thus, they would not serve us dinner. The ryokan (a hotel) is way up a hill. They have a shuttle bus but they will only provide a trip to and from the Kumano-Shi station before and after check in. So, we had to take a taxi to go to...

"We had a very good night Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya. They share hot springs and the restaurant with a nearby hotel. Hot springs are the absolute standout: fantastic! Food is good and plentiful. Our room had a brilliant view. All the rest is okay, although the exterior of the building is not nice."

"The air conditioner was not needed. We turned the heater on briefly and it worked very well. The washer and dryer were both great. The shower rooms and bathrooms were excellent. The beds were nice. "This is our second stay at Hotel Urashima. They've changed ownership so there is a difference in checking in There are stand alone Kiosk to check in. Not so personal. We usually get 1/2 board which is buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. Both breakfast and dinner have several pre dinner cooking devices that you cook your fish or vegetables. Breakfast could be improved. My favorite is the variety of onsens and the cave grottto is my favorite. There is also a shiatsu massage service."
