"The hotel itself is excellent - great location and architecture. The cool atmosphere and aircon were welcoming on the hottest June day ever recorded in Cardiff! The facilities were great - including bedroom, bar and pool / spa. A couple of disappointments though. Guaranteed check-in from 3p.m. We arrived at 2.15 so went to the bar to wait. By 3.30 still no room, so after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing they eventually found us an upgrade. The breakfast - distinctly average for the price and luke-warm."

"Excellent location. Car parking available if needed. Check was easy and the lady at the reception was very helpful and we was lucky that are room was ready early. Rooms start on the 4th floor. There are lifts but the staircase is available via the spa. Rooms very spacious, great air conditioning and beds very comfortable. Tea & coffee facilities available. Didn't use any other facilities."

"The staff were lovely, the hotel you could tell was once beautiful in its hay day but although it's had a clean paint job it was in need of some tlc. Our room was big and clean but bizarrely the plugs in the main room didn't work if you turned the light off?? We did not mension this to the staff as it was late when we found out and other than not being able to charge our phone it wasn't really a problem. The main disappointment was for the price, the rooms did not offer air con and were very hot with just one fan provided for the three of us. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. We were going to a festival at the castle so it was fantastic in location. The overall experience was good, but expected more for what we paid. But again the reception staff, waiting staff and the cleaning crew where all really great !!!!"

"I arrived in time to get a parking space but am not sure what i would have done if it was full. At the moment access from hemingway road side is closed due to building work. I had to back off considerably for my sat nav to find an alternative way in. Staff v friendly and facilities were excellent for the price I paid"

"Louis was welcoming and helpful. Room was clean with air conditioning which was a huge bonus in the heatwave! Room was basic but meet our need - an overnight stay. Some amenities could be update though such as the shower head which partially broken but usable. Overall I would recommend for short stay. However, I may not recommend if travelling with younger kids since there is almost no space to move around."
