The Black Forest house(German: Schwarzwaldhaus) is a byre-dwelling that is found mainly in the central and southern parts of the Black Forest in southwestern Germany. It is characterised externally by a long hipped or half-hipped roof that descends to the height of the ground floor. This type of dwelling is suited to the conditions of the Black Forest: hillside locations, broad tracks, high levels of snowfall and heavy wind loading. Individual farms, such as the Hierahofnear Kappel, which are still worked today, are over 400 years old. The Black Forest house is described by Dickinson as very characteristic of the Swabian farmstead type.

"Great Stay! If I could give a score above 10, I would do that. It is a very nice hotel located in a nice village which is managed with a friendly and supportive owner. We enjoyed staying 7 days there the whole family. Room is designed and decorated very nicely and the materials all over the building are luxurious. Still, the price is affordable. "Nice and clean hotel near the German-French border. The tram to go to Strabourg was just outside the hotel and it was convenient to visit Christmas market. Beds were comfortable. I would certainly recommend this hotel. "

"We stayed during our visit to Strasbourg Christmas Markets early December. The hotel is very clean, and across the street from Tram D station which take you to the main attractions in Strasbourg in less than 20 minutes. That was the big plus for us. The breakfast buffet has a large variety (In my case, I would request to add Decaf coffee to the list). Check in and check out is all digital, but there is someone at the front desk most of the time. They allowed us to leave our luggage early during check in. There are restaurants and supermarkets around. Overall a nice stay and a great hotel to do what we needed to do."
