"Remy, at the front desk, was absolutely fabulous. He is very knowledgeable of the town and provided great recommendations of off the beaten path places to see, directions and food recommendations. They allow you to drop off your luggage early on the day you arrive and will place it in your room, when it is ready. You do not need not haul it around all day so take advantage of this perk. Breakfast options were not great for the price you pay. It is primarily pastries, coffee and tea and limited seating is available to eat. I would pay for breakfast and walk to one of the many options on the Royal Mile."

"Fabulous room with lovely new furnishings super comfy bed and bedding, great location, good quality breakfast although I previously enjoyed omelettes."

ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge - Royal Mile

"The first thing you should know is there are 2 Ibis hotels one street away from each other. That caused me confusion throughout my trip when calling Ubers or taxis. The location is excellent, within walking distance to many attractions, restaurants and shops in the old part of the city. It is within walking distance from the train station however if it's raining or you have a lot of luggage, it is a tough walk. I would recommend an Uber or taxi. The front desk staff is on duty 24 hours a day and they were helpful in getting an early check in and calling taxis for me. The lobby is very small but functional. I had a twin room as I was traveling with a friend. The room is small and the bathroom is the size of a phone booth, but there were areas for storage and a full length mirror in the room. The room had a hair dryer but no electrical outlet that I could see in the bathroom. But their was an outlet near the full length mirror so it was manageable. There is a coffee shop with muffins, croissants, pastries right next door which was convenient."

"Great stay all the little extras added to it all like the mini bar and treats.Stayed for my girlfriend's birthday and they set up balloons for our arrival and left a little custom card ,the staff couldn't have been any more helpful will definitely be staying again"

Holyrood Aparthotel

"We stayed for a week, Great spot, nice and quite, a small supermarket almost right behind, which was very handy. 1 min walk from the Royal mile too. easy access to some local restaurants and cafes etc. the only issue we had was the heater wasn't working, we were given a small electric radiator that help take the chill off but it wasn't ideal. we did tell the office and they said that they would advise the maintenance staff, but in the whole week we never saw them. Apart from smokers standing outside the main door, and our room not being dark all night, apparently our room appears to be the only one that has an exterior light outside near the window that is on all night, everything was good. The dishwasher and washing machine were great and all detergents supplied, as was some fresh milk in the fridge to help get you going."

Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel is on a flat part of Grassmarket. The Saturday outdoor market is right across the street, as is the hop- hop-off bus and at least 6 pubs and some simple eateries. Victoria street is a 3 min. walk. I loved the location. The hotel is well maintained and you can get lots of towels or tea from the cleaning staff, who are always around. If you want the hotel pub or pool, you’d have to go to the sister Apex hotel. I liked the quietness of this one. Only problem is the corridors and rooms were too hot for my liking(went in autumn)."

"The heating wasn't great, and there was a cold draft from the window. I feel freezing in bed."
