"Pension Barbara is a very cosy and clean pension right next to the paths leading up to The Brocken. The hostess was very sweet and attentive, and we had a good stay. Schierke as a town is a bit dated and quiet in the autumn, when we visited. Is was difficulty to find a place to just have a couple of drinks etc. The national park, Brocken and paths are all excellent for a short hiking-holiday. Great nature, chalenging paths (if you want it), nice restaurant on the summit."

"Sehr schönes Hotel, wir hatten ein großes und ansprechendes Doppelzimmer im dritten Stock. Es war sehr leise, von innen aber auch von außen ( obwohl zur Seite mit der Bundesstraße gelegen ). Sehr schicker und großer Wellnesbereich mit tollem Pool, hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Auch das Frühstück war sehr gut, uns hat hier nichts gefehlt. "We enjoyed one night stay at this fantastic hotel looking like a small castle. The lobby and the dining room are particularly beautiful. Breakfast is really good. The room where we stayed is a bit small, but comfortable with air conditioning. Price is inexpensive with free parking. The hotel location is excellent: both Wernigerode Castle and the old town are quite close."
