The stay was comfy. We, like many others, were highly dissatisfied with the included breakfast. The eggs were never cooked. We were literally served raw eggs and toast.

Liked: Staff & service
It was a fairly simple stay, with just the basics in the room. Since we live in Japan, were used to certain aspects of a hotel room here, such as a tea kettle and coffee, plus some cups - and we missed those things. On the other hand, it was great to sleep on a bed that was not as hard as most Japanese mattresses. The breakfast was nothing special, but it was definitely appreciated.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, and it was a welcome treat to have them all speak English.
Overall, the stay was nothing special, but it had everything we needed, and the location was excellent. I would likely stay here again.
old, noicy and dirty hotel, share shower room is old and hot water is not stable, so i have decide go to onsen in Madrao Kogen Hotel every night for 11nights : (
Fuel smell in the room, in the corridor, made me ill. Even after opening the window, the smell lingers. The room heater has a timer that went off early morning and woke me up. Unless the heater's fuel smell is rectified, I will not stay here again. I stayed 2 times, and each time its the same fuel smell issue. Not again.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Hostel style accomodation that has seen better days and is in need of a refresh. Rooms look very worn, bathrooms are outdated and half of them out of order
The hotel is dangerous, it is heated with gas and kerosen. We felt dizzy and the staff did not inform us to open the doors and it has it is co coming out of such heaters. We had to leave for safety with young children. I do not understand why they do not mention this in the web site and that Expedia sell such dangerous place. Would never recommend to go there again. The hotel smells so bad of kerosen and is so dirty. Not worth at all what we paid.
We were misdirected to the main madarao hotel then charged $75 to be picked up 60m away before we got there. Orher hotels many kms away took us home due to snow and bus was 1/4 price manny kms further. Meanwhile 3 hotel bus sat idle for next 4 days. Facilities were rundown. No safety rails on stairs to entry or ski store. Drying room heater turned off & foyer to conserve $. Underwhelming brealfast with occasional poor higeine. Requests made, nothing fixed in week multi room 10 pp group include no room heater, leaking toilet, not enough towels for persons booked to rooms, facilities nonexistant compared to claim on booking- infact no fridge, minibar, credit card facility, toiletries, crockery or, cutlery. The one vending machine out of order the whole week was only source of food or drink. Overall worse than a backpackers the locals avoid.
A comfortable hotel right on the ski slopes. Could use a bit of maintenance (hotel lost power a few times due to overload but they quickly fixed it each time). But it was clean and comfortable and the staff were incredibly helpful. Convenience of ski hire shop and a great bar and food in the hotel. They also arrange easy trips to the snow monkeys which saved us so much time. Breakfast supplied each morning which was a bonus.

okay hotel, that needs an update
The hotel is a bit of an uphill walk to the actual ski area. It's not too far, about a 10 minute walk which is not bad... but going uphill plus snow and if you're carrying your ski gear, then it gets challenging.
The staff was great and very accommodating. The folks at the front desk and ski rental place were very helpful.
The facilities however, specially the rooms need some updating. The heating wasn't working well on my 2nd day, and on the third day it was just non-existent for the showers/sink and also for the room. Even without me requesting, the staff provided a portable heater which helped a little and offered extra blankets.
Food options in the hotel and nearby - not a lot. Also make sure you bring cash (local currency).
