My wife became ill in Newport, RI, on Wednesday, May 29th, so we had to return to Maryland to take her to a hospital. I called Expedia to cancel our reservation, but they declined the request, stating that I would incur an additional $160 cancellation fee on top of the initial $150 cancellation fee for the Newport hotel. Consequently, I cannot comment on the hotel experience since we did not check in. We paid $242.00 for one night at the Hilton, but we did not use the room. Because of this experience, we have decided not to do business with Expedia in the future. On the evening of May 29th, I called Hilton and explained our situation to a representative. He assured me he would speak with his manager to see what could be done, but I have not heard back from them. 410-236-7755
