"When I arrived, I found I had been alloted an upstairs unit. As the stairs were steep, and I had a knee injury, I was kindly moved to a downstairs unit. This was an upgrade, at no extra cost. I was very grateful. Staff very pleasant, and amenities excellent. Easy walk to pools and shops. I would stay again."

"Perfect spot for a long weekend stay. Just a couple of minutes’ walk from the thermal complex, in a quiet side road. The unit is older-style, as other reviewers have commented, but wants for nothing and has space that newer motels lack. Outdoor furniture catches late morning sun and overlooks the carefully-tended gardens. I slept well in a very comfy bed, was kept warm with an efficient heater (and electric blanket to take the chill off the bed). The sofa and chair were also very comfortable. I recommend highly and hope to find a room here when I next visit Hamner. "

"The property is amazing, but is being left to go to wrack and ruin (it's not there yet, but it's certainly on its way). It's rather sad to see. The staff are lovely, but there are very few of them. Oftentimes you'd go through reception without seeing anyone on the desk. Rooms are not serviced daily, which feels a little inattentive, not Kiwi hospitality. There's old furniture stacked up in poritcos, hoses left straggled under hedges, hedges themselves are roughly chopped. Weeds are taking over the formerly manicured grounds. Leaves are strewn across the lawns. Even easy maintenance tasks like replacing moldy silicone around the basin has gone by the wayside... the whole place feels rather devoid of care..."
