We stayed here as a group and unfortunately the service is what really lets the hotel down. The property feels a little tired in places and we did have to change two of our five rooms, although given the recent hurricane and ongoing maintenance, that part was understandable and we were willing to be flexible.
The bigger issue was the inconsistency and lack of communication across departments. Several of our rooms weren’t cleaned, our group was split up for birthday dinners despite prior arrangements, our taxi to the airport never arrived, and only some rooms received the hotel welcome and orientation. It often felt disorganised and frustrating.
There were, however, some standout staff who genuinely cared about guests. Odel at the pool bar was fantastic, and the young woman working in the Sugar Cane restaurant (wish we’d caught her name) was warm, professional, and a real credit to the team.
In terms of facilities, the pool is large but very shallow, so not ideal if you enjoy proper swimming. The beach area is quite small and only waist-deep, and overall the resort lacked the distinctive Caribbean / Jamaican atmosphere we were hoping for — it could have been anywhere. On the positive side, the spa and bowling were definite highlights, and the VR area was fun when working, although the machines seemed to break down fairly often.
Overall, there are some great people and a few enjoyable amenities, but the poor communication and inconsistent service overshadowed our stay.
