"March 21 stay – serious safety concern. I booked two rooms for six adults through Hotels.com at Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area. They have stayed at this hotel previously and chose it again because of its close proximity to the university. Check-in at 3:30 PM went smoothly with proper ID, and the rooms were accessible earlier in the day. However, after midnight, one room key stopped working. A replacement key was issued and reprogrammed but still did not work. Instead of helping them access the room that had been paid for, the manager on duty instructed them to try to enter the second room on the reservation. They were unable to wake the occupants, and the manager refused to call the room to assist. This morning, the front desk staff member was extremely helpful and confirmed that the individual working overnight was in fact the manager on duty. These young women were left without access to their room after midnight and ultimately had to take an Uber to a trusted friend’s home in order to have a safe place to stay. Being locked out after midnight in an unfamiliar downtown area with no assistance was frightening and should never happen to paying guests. This situation was unacceptable. Guests should never be left without access to a room that has been reserved and paid for, especially late at night."

"This truly was my worse stay at a hotel, the smell is one of the most horrendous things my nose has ever come across. The bathroom is like a crime scene the room deserves an Oscar for depicting where the world ends. I got onto the second floor and part of it looked like an abandoned building, I was genuinely waiting for people to jump out and attack of sewer rats or snakes in the vents. I don’t know how this place is operational. If it was $20 a night it’d still be too expensive. Also there’s red stuff all over the carpets is that blood? Yeah please save your money 💰 "

"The room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to stay an extra night as we had a snowstorm and couldn't leave. I had no problem adding another night thanks to the staff"
