The inn is a beautiful historic building in a lovely small town outside Ottawa. Main issue was the COMPLETE lack of hot water and the presence of staff onsite only when the restaurant is open (lunch & dinner)
The Baldachin Inn is a lovely old property with plenty of character. If you are a light sleeper, I'd suggest asking for a room facing onto the garden, as the main road off the north side of the building gets some traffic noise - in spite of it being a really small town. The room was very comfortable and clean and the staff are wonderful. I did not eat in the restaurant on this trip, but have had breakfast there before and it was very good.
Merrickville was such a pleasant town. The Inn was a stunning place to stay with the exception of the stairs to our room and the smallish room. Staff member who served us dinner gave good service. It was a hassle leaving in the morning as we waiting to get our bikds out of lock up. Overall loved this place.
A few little things can be improved. Would suggest coffee cups for coffee machine and more hangers in closet. The food in the restaurant is delicious but for the quantity is a little expensive. Waitresses were kind and willing to accommodate requests. Overall a very pleasant stay in historic and well maintained building.

Nice building, dinner on the patio was nice and it was quiet. Shopping in the area is fun and eclectic. The pub down the road is amazing. Staff were friendly.
The WIFI was little to non-existent. The tv was dependent on the WIFI so there wasn’t any. All rooms are only accessible using stairs - 45 to ours. Not horrible, but not expected. There is no security - the rooms are accessed through a door that opens onto the street with no lock - reception desk is in the restaurant which is a different part of the building. Not horrible in a small town like this but may be disturbing to some. No ice or vending available - there was a Quickie Mart a five minute walk away that closes at 10. Air conditioning was good, but a little loud. No in room phone so no easy access to staff. Parking is street parking but there was lots of it.
The stores close up around 5 and the restaurants/pubs at 9 - I didn’t mind that, but be aware.
Apparently checkin is to be done before 8. Expedia says nothing of the sort and we by chance happened to be walking up while staff was leaving at 9:30. Otherwise, we’d have driven 5 hours with no place to stay.
In beautiful little Merrickville at Christmas season for a concert at the Pews! Check in a bit glitchy, but overall wonderful experience. Excellent manager Lorrie resolved glitches and all was well!! Would return in a heartbeat!
The facility was fine and the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. However the owner was very rude and made us feel unwelcome from the first few seconds we got there. Sadly, we will definitely never return to this place.

No room at the in
The hotel gave away our room by 2:10 pm so there were no rooms left at the inn for us
Old world charm, lovely old building and grounds, good food in restaurant, friendly staff, if you can find them, but do not expect anything but the basics in your room. Tired, shabby, well used room - but more like a hostel with a lousy undersized bathroom. Long steep creeky staircase up to rooms - no good for anyone with mobility issues or heavy luggage.
Most of the floorspace in rm #6 was taken up by a large useless jacuzzi tub; floorspace which should be used to enlarge the bathroom and shower!
Dont expect luxury here. We even left 1 day early, even after paying in advance for 2 nights; couldnt spend another night there.
Suggest you request to see your room before paying upfront. 1st place I've ever stayed where you have to pay before you stay!
Overpriced, understaffed but cool old building. Price should be $99 night.

A basic room, nothing special. Tv was difficult to work. Couldn't adjust the volume so too loud to watch, also coffee maker didn't work, and no blow dryer FYI
So we had 2 giant centipedes greet us in bathroom -the ones with all the legs that run fast. I know they are not dangerous but also they only live/thrive where there are other bugs to eat…and fridge leaked on floor soaking my only clean clothes

Didn't like the long hikes up several flights of steep stairs, something not mentioned about before you arrive, also signage in the those stairwells should be there to indicate directions where rooms are, or you can easily end up going up wrong stairs to top floor ballroom

I was quoted one rate and confirmed with Expedia upon booking and the. When we arrived there was an upgrade to our room with a charge but was not our choice to have a jr suite. The staff member said she had to charge the price that was sent from Expedia confirmation which was not the same as my confirmation.
