"The breakfast was excellent"

"Real mixed bag - mattresses very soft, especially sofabed (which, when deployed, impossible to fit two beds, table, chair without blocking access to the door which felt a bit of a fire hazard). Shower curtain rail reattached multiple times, glue-discs from earlier versions still on wall, now so low that curtain draped across floor of the tub - trip hazard. Food good to great, buffet excellent value, but resto management worst I've seen in decades - of 3 restos claimed, only 1 open. Table setup poor: 2-tops left placed as 4s & 6s but only couples sat, while folks were literally being turned away as 'no tables available'. At breakfast sat with no coffee for 10mins, no passing server, then after being topped up was revisited twice in <5mins to be offered unneeded extra coffee. Feasted on great cheese, fruit, smoked salmon; bacon overdone, runniest oatmeal I've seen since a staged Oliver Twist gruel scene. Food budget choices = weird! Staff friendly, but all recent imports with wide range of skill - nice, polite, but very variable in efficiency. 'Eco-friendly' used to excuse no AC - but baseboard heaters & desk fans are far worse than a heatpump; single-use Keurig type coffeemaker in each room; heated pool/hottubs; chocolate fountain at breakfast!? Wasted power at every turn... Both wife & I worked in a similar small, remote, budget, mountain hotel: we know the challenges involved. Great location, much potential, but managers, not staff, need replaced - especially in F&B!"

"Lodge is located in a beautiful location on Emerald Lake. Staff is very good and on site restaurant was highly quality. Now for the downside: it’s remote and guests must take shuttle from parking to lodge. The “cabin” was clean but in a 4-unit shared older building with very thin walls between rooms. There are no services (TV, wi-fi, or cell) except in main lodge. The only food service is from the lodge as nearest town (Fields) is 6 miles and has no restaurants. So, if you are looking to stay in an isolated location to completely disconnect, and don’t mind a “camp-like” setting, this is for you. The lake views are exceptional."

"I would have given full 5 star review. However, there are things that take away a star, if not 2. 1. The quality of room cleaning service was not great. I found my PJ that I left on the bed being thrown on the sofa. Very strange. 2. The garbage bin in the bathroom was left on the toilet cover. Were they in such a hurry? After seeing all these, we declined for future room cleaning services. Not impressed. 3. This is an interior designer issue. The show door can only be opened around 45 degrees as it is hitting the huge shower head. I hit it every time I opened the shower door no matter how careful I was. 4. The restaurant in the hotel is expensive and nothing special about it. There is a grill in the restaurant for grilling breads and it is a joke. I left my piece of bread there for 5 minutes and it could only warm it up but not more than that. For price of $550+ per night (we stay for 4 nights), it does not feel right. I am not sure if this is a pro or con. Our room door opens directly to the outside so we needed to get dressed well just to access the lobby."
