「Wife is allergic to dogs cats, can't you have rooms/floors pets are never allowed in? Also, not in your control but cig smoke was coming through bathroom/fan? Assuming someone was trying to hide cig smoking with fan on in another room. My wife also has asthma...so these factors are important t us.」
