Very friendly and professional staff, great island views from Onsen (public bath) and high quality Japanese breakfast ! Also you can walk to all tourist spots!
Couldn't have asked for a more ideal location to view the bay and enjoy onsen. The toom was fantastic, with comfy chairs to relax in, while viewing the bay from my panoramic window in the room.
Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay with excellent service, food, and amenities. Great value. Massage (extra) was exceptional especially for the price. Good location for a walk and shopping.
We were treated like royalty. The food was wonderful. The service was terrific and the view from our room was fabulous. We watched the sun rise over the bay from our window.
This is one of my favorite hotels, I think this is the third time I stayed here. It has great views of Matsushima Bay and Fukuurajima Island, excellent food, and clean comfortable rooms. If you can afford a plan that includes dinner it's worth trying.
I am so glad I stayed here. It is a perfect location, with magnificent views of the bay from my room and from the public and private onsen. Breakfast was really good. All staff were very kind and friendly, and special thanks to the man on reception (so sorry I didn’t get your name) who spoke English really well.
It is a bit of a walk from the railway stations (its about midway between Matsushima and Matsushimakaigan - about 18 minutes walk from each) but the walk from Matsushimakigan is prettier. The hotel does provide a shuttle bus a couple of times each day.
There are so many good things for me to say about this place. I specifically came for the room with a water view, and I loved every bit of it.The views were so calming, and I was able to watch the sunrise from my room. The staff were incredible; some of them spoke English and those that didn't tried so hard to accommodate me. I really appreciated them. There is also a private onsen you can book which is absolutely worth it. A standout moment was when the staff made a breakfast modification for me that I thought couldn't be made-- it was a wonderful surprise and made my stay all the better. So peaceful. So worth it. Also, everything is very walkable from the property.
I was traveling solo through Matsushima Bay and I found this amazing Ryokan through an AI/Google search. I was highly impressed with service provided by the staff! I especially liked their use of some cool technology I had not seen before (it was a set up of two microphones, one facing the guest and one facing the staff, that automatically translated speech to text for display on a digital board between us as we spoke to each other). This was extremely helpful during my check in/out process since I usually fumble with Google Translate.
My room + the view was immaculate and had everything I needed plus more! I thoroughly enjoyed my onsen experience and I can’t wait to experience more in the future. This was the best choice I could have made for my first true Ryokan experience.
Note: They have a set time for dinner so if you are arriving after they have completed dinner service be prepared to make other arrangements just in case.
Overall experience is good. However, the public onsen bath is too open and you can see the people working at the pier nearby. It is absolutely not good at the privacy.
