"I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...

"Don’t let the cleaning staff put you off having your room done. A knock on the door and they ask if we need anything. I felt as though I just had to say yes clean towels and coffee . On the first night I took the duvet out of the cover as it was too warm. Told the cleaner the next morning and then she said do you want me to make the bed. So I made the bed for the remaining 2 nights. (I can do that at home. ) The sink was never cleaned nor the toilet. Overall we had a lovely 3 nights stay and the hotel was lovely. Breakfast was lovely too . The room cleaning was my only gripe maybe I should have been assertive and asked her to do room service."

"Staff were great. The valley had no water due to the drought. The staff took it in their stride. They were honest about the situation, provided bottled water and kept guests up to date with the situation which was resolved by the next morning. The room was clean, however the paintwork could do with being refreshed. Tea / coffee stains on the wall by the kettle. The bathroom taps were loose (we tightened them) and the toilet bowl could've used a good scrub below the waterline. However, the shower was big with room to move and there was plenty of hot water once the water issue had been resolved. The lunch / evening menu is very limited. Breakfast was included and very good, there were more options on this menu than the other! We did however, enjoy our stay and will stay here again when we next go to the lakes."
