The room was spacious, and the breakfast was delicious, though mainly Japanese with just some bread rolls, which may be limiting for those who prefer the Western style breakfast. There were separate onsen areas, one open to public and the other just for the hotel guests. The public bath was open only for limited times, and the amenities were minimal.
There are a lot of clutter in the hotel lobby, which makes it feel messy. The hotel looks a bit old, though it is clean. I arrived at the hotel after 10 o'clock at night. When I entered the door, I couldn't see the check-in counter. I went to a counter on the right. There was a card showing “ 百名湯認定証 ”, and add water room “加湯室” was behind the counter. I was about to search everywhere I could in the hotel, when suddenly I saw a man at the far end of the left side, so I chased after him and asked if he was a hotel staff. It turned out that the checkin counter was on the left, and I turned the wrong direction and went to the right. I was indeed frightened at that time when I couldn’t see anybody. Checkin was smooth with the help of the staff. If I haven’t been to the wrong direction, everything would be fine. The breakfast is delicious, and it is a semi-self-service style. Milk, rice, miso soup, bread, tea, etc. are all available for self-service. The mountain view from the restaurant is great.
We loved our stay at the Spatio. We booked the traditional Japanese room which was very spacious and had a large living area that could be divided into a sleeping and living area. The room didn't have a shower, but there is an onsen on the first floor where you can shower.
