"I've stayed at Old Silk Appartments twice so far in apartments 8 and 9. Both I found spotless, white soft towels, comfy beds, tastefully decorated well maintained and adequately appointed. Large fridge freezer, 4 ring hob oven and microwave, basic set of kitchen utensils and a couple of pans adequate to cook something simple. "Booking is made on Expedia, but the you complete the registration on another site. Shower is built into a very small closet. Toilet is on the other side - in another closet. You have to straddle the toilet to use a hand basin that barely fits my hands and it's not possible to wash your face in it without splashing water all over the floor. Entrance way through to the room is in shockingly poor condition. Not the welcome one would hope to see. I would not recommend this room."

"Arrived by car in afternoon. Sat nav was a little out (same road, different parking entrance) so better signage would be good. Car parking itself was a little tight but a fair price for an area more secure than an open car park. Arrived at reception and welcomed, staff member spent time to deal with our many queries relating to the area, restaurants, theatres etc. Clear directions to the room. Room clean and comfortable, well maintained throughout our 3 day stay; no need to ask for additional toilet roll*! Shower good. Biggest TV we have had in an English hotel. Hotel very well sited, good bus and tram links to the city but an easy walk to many of the sights, including the canal network, theatre and Black Sabbath bridge! Buffet breakfast very good but fried eggs would be nice (no indication if these could be ordered). Two waffle machines - could do with another at weekends when children staying are moths to a lamp when it comes to waffles! Did not try the bar - a good number of canal-side and just off-canal pubs serve decent real ale. Drop off of keys easy. Draw backs? Well the stream of text messages asking how each part of the day could be scaled back; the lift operation could do with updating and finally; why such cheap toilet paper? You need 5 or more sheets to avoid an episode with the paper splitting (if you get what I mean). Better ply paper would be more cost efficient - Honest! Would definitely stay again."

"I don’t complain about much but don’t charge for a late fee when I’ve tried to call you numerous times on a broken phone & additionally don’t charge me with full knowledge that I’ve paid for a junior suite with a tv that doesn’t function for a 2 day stay. Other than that amazing location and amazing staff & amenities overall stay very very good would recommend other than that one personal issue"

"Wonderful as always. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The A/C worked brilliantly and kept the room cool over a very hot weekend. The pool, hot tub, sauna and steam were great. Lovely and clean and never overcrowded. Very relaxing. Couldn’t get a better location in Birmingham for access to Broad Street and the Bullring. Lovely to be able to walk everywhere. We always park at a car park 5 mins walk away as it’s only £8 for 24 hours."

"We wanted to take a relaxing break away for a night and enjoy the spa facilities of this hotel, booked after seeing the photos online. The hotel has beautiful grounds, check in was quick and we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was nice and clean, no air con just a fan in the room, the hotel needs TLC in most areas, it is a maze and we struggled to find our way around it. We went out for dinner as the hotel was hosting a wedding and was very busy. The spa was not the best, difficult to relax with kids running around, the pool area is very small and steam and sauna rooms were busy too. The gym was fine, fully equipped. Breakfast was standard nothing amazing. I think for the price paid it was satisfactory but if you want to have a relaxing weekend then couldn’t recommend it."
