"The room was filthy, under the bed hadn't been cleaned for what looked like a long time (used tissue and cigarette bud alongside various bits of crap and dirt), mould in the shower, wardrobe door broken and fell over when tried to move it, floor was greasy somehow, bed covers dirty, when we turned the fan on it sprayed dust around the room for half an hour, the window opened to a rooftop covered in more discarded cigs and loads more crap. I could go on but you probably get the picture. Bank holiday weekend so I paid £200 for one night, absolute joke and health hazard."

"Stayed at Harbour Hotel Brighton for my partner’s 30th birthday and honestly left disappointed. We arranged for a bottle of champagne and strawberries to be waiting in the room on arrival. Instead, we were delivered a warm bottle of Prosecco and told the champagne would arrive the next day. Despite mentioning it multiple times throughout the stay, it never appeared. The biggest issue though was the condition of the rooms. The first room was dirty, tired, and poorly maintained. Stains throughout the carpets, marks on furniture, rusty shower fittings, dirty skirting boards, grimy areas around the bathroom, and general lack of upkeep. We were moved to another room, but even that had stains all over the carpet and still felt worn out and neglected. To make matters worse, we received no housekeeping service until we specifically asked for it. The spa experience was mixed. My partner’s facial was apparently lovely, and the staff themselves were polite whenever we spoke to them, but the spa area also looked tired and poorly maintained. I also came out in a rash after using the hot tub, which made me question whether the chemical balance was being properly monitored. Despite booking a £100 treatment, there was still an extra £10 charge just to use the spa facilities, which felt a bit cheap for a hotel positioning itself as four-star luxury. This doesn’t seem like bad luck either — after looking through Google reviews, there are plenty of photos showing very similar room conditions."

"I mistakenly booked our room for Monday through Friday so I had to add Sunday night to our booking. Unbeknownst to me, I booked a different room. In lieu of dragging our luggage to a different room, we decided to stay where we were ( in the basement). That was a big mistake because we began to smell a strong odor of mold. When I asked to switch to our original room, I was told it was no longer available. The manager on duty said he would send someone to fix it, but mold is not something that can be fixed easily. I probably should have known when I saw a dehumidifier in the room and a sign not to turn the bathroom fan off. Luckily, we have not spent a ton of time in our room."
