It is at a very convenient location, with Red Lobster across the street and a ABC store at the corner. The bus stop is within 5 minutes' walk. The Ala Moana shopping center and beach is also within walking distance. This is a very convenient location.

My partner and I were in town for a convention and stayed at The Equus for a 8 nights. The building is a bit older/outdated, but everything was functional and clean. We had a lot of luggage - the staff was kind and accomodating helping us arrange deliveries, as well as help carry our boxes up the stairs to the elevator. They were accomodating at every turn, truly helping us enjoy our stay in Honolulu. The bed in our room was soo comfortable and we slept soundly every night. The housekeeping staff was also very nice and our room was well-equipped with everything we needed (towels, fridge, great AC).

The staff were super welcoming and fun! I appreciate the staff making sure our towels got switched out and our room was made up(: they offer a welcome drink which I think is super sweet! Overall it was in the perfect location to navigate the island on our vacation !

This quaint hotel is well managed and it’s a great value considering other more “luxurious hotels” offer some better accommodations but for a ton more money. Staff was excellent and helpful with locating tourist spots nearby. Easy walk to one of the largest malls with never ending stores and places to eat. Easy to get to cruise port and on a Main Street which has a lot of options for getting around via local transit. It’s old but the charm is unique. I would stay there if the opportunity arises.

The first thing that went wrong was the room key. It was one of those tap to enter rooms and it was very difficult to get it to open. The second thing that went wrong was the air conditioner, it was very weak. We complained to the front desk and they told us that that’s just kind of how most of the units are and you have to keep it at a certain temperature and it should improve after 15 minutes, well it didn’t improve. The third thing that went wrong was the shower was clogged. The mini fridge was also dirty. Another thing the window covers were broken. The room service was not that good. They didn’t really vacuum and they didn’t really clean the room. This place is very expensive and for the money we paid we were expecting better room conditions and better service from the front desk. The front desk was not very helpful. They were nice, but you can tell they didn’t want to deal with me and I was being very respectful. We got lucky that the room door broke and they couldn’t fix it, so they were forced to give us another room, which was slightly better because the air conditioner was working in that unit stronger than the first unit also because we didn’t have a balcony. It was a little bit more spacious. I recommend trying another location before you come here. The only good thing about this location is that it had a lot of good stuff around it. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and stores and close to that huge shopping mall.

Property pictures are deceiving and definitely need general deep cleaning. Didn’t feel safe in the room because there’s no dead bolt lock on entry door. The front desk clerk is very kind and attentive.
