"The staff are friendly and helpful. The building is rather old but full of character and with a lovely decor. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the station, very convenient. One thing to be aware of is that they don't start serving breakfast until 8.30am – something to keep in mind if you're planning an early start. "

"We would definitely stay at the Loopy Shrew again. Great value for money. Our room and bathroom were very clean, quiet and comfortable. We heard nothing from the pub below. The location is great, with very short walks to beautiful areas of town. "Very good value stay £70 room including 2 breakfasts'! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only slight downside is the noise if there is live music in the pub, but this wrapped up around midnight for us and closing the window made it barely audible to no big issue."

First dog friendly hotel experience

"Our first experience of a dog friendly hotel and the staff couldn’t have been any nicer or helpful which totally made the difference and would 100% go again. Location is perfect to explore the town and surrounded by dozens of bars cafes and restaurants so you can just take your pick."

Wonderful stay

"My daughter and I stayed for 1 night as we were attending performances at the nearby theatre. The hotel was lovely and we were lucky enough to have what a couple of the staff described as the 'best room'. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was a little soft for my liking, although still comfortable. All staff we encountered were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The small amount of food we had was a hit, especially with my daughter! We would definitely stay here again. "
