"We had a text a couple of days before and were able to ask a couple of questions. We were welcomed by Vernon on arrival and shown around the hotel. Vernon was keen to show the girls the dancing and they had a long session the next morning. Breakfast was cereal and we had coffee and tea. The guest house is very clean and tidy and welcoming. "The room was with a balcony overlooking the sea. The furnishings were antique/old , The bed was comfortable The bathroom needed a replacement bath panel as rotting , the old sink had several small chips. Our room cleaners were polite and provided a daily service. We only used the restaurant for an evening meal once , food was adequate, we felt the selection was poor. Breakfast had a good selection of both hot and cold choices, the restaurant staff were all very polite and helpful. The outdoor pool was "closed for refurbishment " shame as we were there in the heatwave. Good parking arrangements for blue badge holders with level access to hotel."

"Our room was clean and light with 3 windows. Nets and curtains were very good quality as was the bedding. It was however very small and there was only one bedside light. There was some road noise. Parking was marked as free on hotels.com site but we were asked to pay 6 pounds. It was outside the hotel but the website should have been accurate. The room was overlooked by a building with scaffolding around the roof, this should also have been mentioned at booking."

"Friendly and approachable staff. Hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and town center. The room needed a deep clean, mainly on the shower drain and carpet. The view I had looked out onto the wall of the front part of the hotel which I found slightly disappointing. Overall was a comfortable, pleasant stay."

"This is the second stay at The Grand. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. We were bed and breakfast , the bed was very comfortable, the room was a decent size and the breakfast was very good. Although the room was clean the main window needs attention as putty is missing which makes it drafty and also it needs painting. The flat roof outside is an eyesore. We found the wifi poor and the size of the tv too small for the size of the room. A big positive for us is the location of the railway station as we will both be 80 years old in a few months we tend to use the train and not the car. We will certainly stay in The Grand in the future and would go for a higher room, as we previously had, in the hope we would have a better view. Thank you for our enjoyable stay."
