"We had a text a couple of days before and were able to ask a couple of questions. We were welcomed by Vernon on arrival and shown around the hotel. Vernon was keen to show the girls the dancing and they had a long session the next morning. Breakfast was cereal and we had coffee and tea. The guest house is very clean and tidy and welcoming. "We absolutely loved staying at The Barbican Hotel. It’s in a great location, near the beach and town. We were greeted so kindly and looked after so well. "Start off with the reception when we arrived, she wasn’t welcoming at all very rigid and unhelpful as she directed on two occasions to the wrong location (our room and the spa) The room was very dated and the bed was too small for two adults and the pillows very uncomfortable. As for the spa (we had booked a treatment) staff were also not welcoming, had to wait a long time to get seen . Could hear all noises from the outside during the treatment which wasn’t very pleasant. Staff in general are very cold and withdrawn. Something you don’t expect when you come for weekend night away. Will not be booking at the imperial again. "

"I really liked this hotel, it was our second visit but, they completely messed up our dinner. We pre ordered the roast pork but, unfortunately they ran out! We ended up with ham, egg and chips which was laughable, the ham looked like thinly sliced spam, the egg was overcooked and we had a few oven chips! It was so bad we got up and walked out, which i have never done before and I’m 67! I have emailed the hotel but, no reply! We won’t be going back!"

"Lovely family friendly hotel. Only down sides upon arrival we were asked to pay a deposit per night for potential damages even though we had fully paid in advance of our stay. This wasn't mentioned when booking and we were told we couldn't check in until we made the payment. Hotel was noisy at night as we were on the second floor and had people above us, below us and all around. The fire doors in the corridors slam constantly through the night with people returning to their rooms at all hours. We had an adjoining door in our room which just had a bolt on it which went into someone else's hotel room which worried me when travelling alone with a young child and wasn't mentioned upon booking. We had noisy people in the next room with young children who kept trying to open the adjoining door. Unfortunately the indoor pool , changing rooms and spa facilities were unavailable during our stay due to refurbishment. They do not have enough sun loungers around the pool and people fill the ones available with towels to save them hours before they swim. breakfast was great with a good choice of pastries, cereal, fruit and hot food. My daughter loved the outdoor pool. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved it is a dog friendly hotel. In a great location right by the beach and a lovely park. We enjoyed the walk down the pier, shops and restaurants. There's a lovely library area in the hotel and we also had a safe inside the wardrobe in our room. We would stay again."
