"For the $91 per night price, this was very good value. Indeed, the property is a mere 5 minutes from the port and train station, which is great. Also, there are good restaurants within a 15 to 20 minute walk. There is a decent full kitchen, although there appeared to be no way to make ice. "Couple of problems initially, we were given the key to an already occupied room. We also were given a coupon for a drink, at our last Most hotel in Paris, that allowed for a small beer or wine, or a soda. Here it only covered a pre-mixed front desk cocktail, so if not your scene, you are out of luck with your welcome/thank you drink!!!! The hotel was great, staff were wonderful, even though they were coping with IT meltdowns. Room was spacious and clean. We would certainly stay again and have to accept we are not going to get a welcome/thank you drink. You can't have everything 😀"

"Lovely B&B for a one night stay in Southampton. Room was big and very comfortable. Delicious breakfast cooked to order. The only issue was the parking. All ok when we arrived, but when returned from an evening out there were no disabled spaces left. We had to call the night reception who kindly helped us. Otherwise, a great stay. Would return."

"Under a mile away from the Southampton central station and close to a bus stop, Madison is more like a serviced apartment in a residential neighbourhood than a traditional hotel. Room has a kitchenette with hob, oven, fridge and sink. You also get the standard kettle and tea / coffee assortment, Rooms and the property overall is extremely neat and tidy. Check-in and check-out is remotely managed. You do get a call from the host if your stay is going well, otherwise you are on your own. You also have access to a washing machine and dryer; but. you need to bring your own detergent and softener. There is adequate light through the large windows with blinds to make the room look airy and large. There is no lift and if you prefer a ground floor room you may have to inform the hosts upfront. Lugging the suitcase up the steep staircase can be a. task for some. Parking is available within the premises, although I did not use the facility. Definitely a good place to stay for a few days in Southampton."
