「We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia...

「The main thing wrong with this hotel is the furniture. It’s drab and not in good condition, the table over the mini fridge was tapped up with brown tape, to hold it together. Can’t you just buy a cheap new one? The chair by the bed was badly stained and there was gum in the carpets. In the bathroom the bath was stained and had no plug and no plug in the sink either, so hard to shave. These all make the place feel really unwelcoming. I’m a pescatarian so don’t eat meat so they are missing a trick with the Jamaican fayre as Mac & Cheese would have gone down well however great price and warm welcome and will come back again probably before the summer is finished.」

「No public rooms at all - well they were either closed or empty of furniture. No breakfast available. Tea and coffee in rooms though. Lots of seating outside but too hot as no umbrellas or refreshments. Overall it was good value for the price, but the hotels either side were far superior for only a few pounds extra. Quirky?
