Located southwest of the city center, the Parque Cruz Conde neighborhood will keep the whole family entertained all day long and well into the night. Enjoy the main attraction here, the 34-acre (14-hectare) park, Parque Cruz Conde. It contains many smaller attractions including a zoo, botanical gardens and a large children’s play area.

The Jardín Botánico (botanical garden) has a superb display of both Spanish and international plant species. Wander through the various gardens, the arboretum and the two museums. Discover varied plant species from different climates in the greenhouses or enjoy the novelty of the touch-and-feel garden. Afterward, relax with coffee and a pastry or browse items in the shop.

Parque Zoologico is a zoo dedicated to conservation and education and has over 200 species of animals from all over the world. Observe tigers, monkeys, hippos and many other favorites. The zoo is open every day except Monday, and tickets are half price for kids. The ticket also allows entry into Ciudad de los Niños (Children’s City), which is a perfect attraction for those visiting with young ones.

Entertain the kids at various playgrounds or sit in one of the shady green spaces with a book. Indulge in a sweet treat or cool drink at one of the kiosks. You’ll also find a terraced bar. Purchase tickets at the entrance. The site is closed on Mondays.

Parque Cruz Conde also has the open-air Axerquía Theater and a sports circuit, known to locals as Cola Cao Circuit. The theater seats 3,500 people and is a perfect entertainment venue for spring and summer. See the website for the schedule of events.

The neighborhood of Parque Cruz Conde is next to San Basilio, which hosts prime attractions including the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. This 14th-century Mudejar-style palace has typical Mediterranean-style terraced gardens, intricate Roman mosaics and towers with panoramic views.
