A disappointing and deceptive experience.
I feel completely scammed by the Omni Hotel Chicago. I reserved a specific room—a King Corner Suite—because it offered the space and accommodations I needed for medical reasons. When I arrived late at night, exhausted and traveling with my daughter, they had given away my reserved room and placed us in a smaller, less expensive one that didn’t meet our needs.
They offered to waive a small service fee (about $60 on a $1200 reservation) as compensation—which felt like a token gesture—and even promised a bottle of wine, only to backtrack and tell me I could go to the restaurant and order one myself. Seriously?
Worst of all, they are still charging me the higher rate for the first night even though they downgraded my room. They’re blaming Expedia, claiming they are not required to honor my reservation since it was through a third party app and refusing to take responsibility for their own hotel giving away my room.
This is not the level of service you expect from a luxury hotel. I booked in good faith and was met with excuses, broken promises, and no real effort to make things right. I won’t be staying with Omni again and I recommend others think twice before doing so.
