The good news is there are proven ways to reduce your risk of developing it. Stay well hydrated, walk around the cabin wherever possible and wear compression tights or socks.

The secret is to be well prepared before you arrive at the airport security gate. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Heise before you know it. Follow these tips and get your vacation off to a fantastic start:

• First things first. Your travel documents and ID will need to be inspected by airport security. Keep them someplace accessible so you don't have to dig around for them.
