Carrizo Plains National Monument is home to endangered species such as the San Joaquin kit fox, and the giant kangaroo rat. It is also home to some of the most spectacular wildflower shows in Southern California. In 2017 the Carrizo Plains received record rainfall and the resulting wildflower blooms brought visitors from near and far to frolic in the #green fields lush with desert candles, phacelia and sunflowers!

40 miles of hard pack dirt roads. Didn’t see another human ALL DAY. couldn’t figure why this is a National Monument. BORING.
