"A great location, but a hotel that maybe is trying too hard to be "cool," and then missing the mark on the basics. We had a burned out lightbulb in one of the bedside lights, a prior guest's piece of garbage in the corner of our room, and a less-than-warm welcome from the person at reception upon our arrival. The parking is inadequate for the hotel, so we had to park on the street (which is quiet, safe street), but when we needed something from our trunk at 10:00 pm we discovered that the street was not well-lit and had to walk a block to our car in near darkness until finally reaching a street light. It was wonderful to be able to walk from the hotel to dinner, we slept well in a comfortable bed (after hitting our shins a few times on a platform bed larger than the mattress), and enjoyed the large shower with a great shower head, so it wasn't a horrible stay by any means, but we expected more based on prior reviews and for the price we paid."

"Staff are available by phone and always call you back if they are on phone. Room 15 had a great shower. Room 22 has large frig. Beds very comfy. No breakfast but restaurants close by. Pet friendly at 30 dollars per stay."

"The room and bathroom were very clean. It was cozy. The bed might need to be updated. It had a squeak that was a little annoying. The woman who took care of the house was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good! I thought it was a good value for the money."

"Steffen, the Host, was absolutely wonderful! His breakfasts were delicious. I had the most peaceful and pleasant stay and I would highly recommend The Charlevoix House. All the shops and beaches were within walking distance. I would also recommend the Mushroom House tour."
