「In a venerable building such as this, there are always sure to be minor defects - creaking floorboards above us was one - but that didn't detract from a really nice stay in the spacious Duke room. The staff were excellent - courteous and always helpful - especially the new manager and his wife - and the only real problem was finding and getting into a suitable parking space for a reasonably large family car (BMW 3 series) - in the end, we parked overnight on the road on one occasion. Our only issue was that the hotel is on a busy road and as the building is old it has sash windows with single glazing so road traffic noise was a problem to start with but that is something that cannot be helped. 」
