My wife and my final meal here was just perfect. Our four day stay was just great but with some niggles.
Our will room was spacious, bright, clean and with all of the basic facilities one would expect. The shower was very good and the bed 'American' sized. Both my wife and I slept very well.
Breakfasts were all good, the cooked ones were not greasy and were cooked well. The only improvement could have been a wider selection of cerials and some fresh fruit. Overall great breakfasts though.
Our first evening meal was lovely. On the second night, after ordering my choice of main meal, I was told it was not available. My second choice was also not available. I ordered my third choice, but when the meal arrived it was not what I ordered. I ate the meal anyway as it had been a long time coming. Despite this, the meal was rather delisous - just not what I wanted. The third nights meal was overcooked and I can't say I enjoyed it. Meanwhile my wife was getting and enjoying her meals. However, as indicated at the start of this review, the final meal was a triamph and made the previous nights wobble less significant.
We had some lovely beer and wine too. In addition the staff were mostly friendly and attentive.
Overall, a lovely stay in this country pub that has, on the whole, much better food than your average pub. Four stars seemed too mean and five a little too generous, I can't award 4.5 stars so I went with five.
We are happy to recommend The Pheasant at Neenton.
This is an amazing story of how a tiny community have come together to reopen an abandoned country pub! Congratulations to all at the Pheasant. Young staff all very welcoming. The food was good and the bed amazing. The modern bedrooms annexe is accessed from outside via a steepish flight of stairs and has room heaters rather than central heating. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Worthy finalists in the 2019 country pub competition.
This is an interesting community run pub serving very good food. Service is friendly and efficient. Our room was fine with nice bed linen. The usual comment about a double room with one chair applies as does my difficulty in seeing in the bedroom mirror while sitting on the chair. Maybe a woman should check height of mirrors? I’m not that short so many women must find this.
The Pheasant Inn is a lovely place to stay if you are happy to be off the beaten track a little. The rooms are all very clean and set out well making for a comfortable night. Really though the best thing about the place is the food and beverage. I had a lovely meal that was obviously prepared freshly and with great care. The beers were all nice and it appears the management put a lot of effort into local sourcing. I only stayed one night and arrived later and left early but the place has left with a pleasant memory. My only issues were poor wifi in the room and a rather small, slightly pixelated TV. Well done to all the staff, you just need to look at the final touches in the rooms now.
Great dog friendly room.
Food was very good and comfy bar area with log burners.
Great local produce and ales on offer.
Good selection of breakfast dishes.
I stayed here for one evening prior to a business trip to shropshire. I arrived late but the staff were kind enough to call me to see if I required dinner. The room was spacious, very clean and a lovely place to stay. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, all fresh and made to order. Lovely place if you need a base in Shropshire for a few days. Thanks!
Great food - we ate both nights and meals were lovely (chef made me custom veg meals off the menu- which was kind!). Tasteful, well appointed rooms. Exceptional location: quite, small (only 3 rooms), idyllic, retreat with great walks starting at the pub. Pub is on an ancient narrow farm road- but I think about 2 cars pass every hour. Village with about 8 houses- something out of an Agatha Christie novel. Very peaceful. One niggle- walls between the rooms are thin so you can hear your neighbours- very disconcerting if next door guests are noisy (as it was with us on one of the mornings). But we would go back!
ps community pub - which is why maybe the hosts and food were so nice... all local produce.
Friendly welcoming staff. The Pheasant provided a small, comfortable room and excellent restaurant facilities. The full English breakfast with local produce is recommended. We ate there in the evening on three nights and were never disappointed. The wine seemed reasonably priced. Good beers available
We would certainly return to the Pheasant and strongly recommend it. It is run by the local community in a very professional manner.
Thoroughly recommend the Pheasant; nice room and really helpful, pleasant staff. We ate in the restaurant one evening (would have both evenings although pub does not serve on Sunday evenings) with family from the local area; locally sourced ingredients nicely presented and tasted great. My wife is wheat and lactose intolerance, the team made every effort to accommodate this.
Only negative was that the motion sensor on the light in our bathroom turned the light off too quickly, which meant we could find ourselves in the dark
Fantastic community owned pub in out of the way Sh
We stayed over for 3 nights and dined here twice. Could not fault it. Room Bed and Food all great. Its about 15 minutes drive to Bridgnorth. Lovely tranquil experience. Will definitely stay here again.
Staff made us very welcome from the moment we arrived to the morning we left. Rooms very good and the food was great. Had a very pleasant stay and would recomend it to any one. Will be definately looking at bookin again.
