「I booked this after seeing there’s only one albergue in Gernika and feeling unsure it would be open. You enter the hotel through the reception bar, the bartender gave me the keys. The room was modest but clean, although the mattress and duvet could’ve used another sheet each as they were well worn. Slightly squeaky bed, decent shower pressure. All in all, not worth the 40 euros but I had little choice.」

「Extremely helpful staff. They were busy but took the time to explain Basque area and places to visit. Also, property is important to Camino pilgrims and their presence and stories inspired my wife and I to one day walk the Camino. Thanks for a wonderful stay!」

「Lovely boutique hotel located close to the rural town of Oñati and the Sanctuary of Arantzazu. The hotel is well located both within the Basque countryside but also within walking distance of the town (20 minutes), which affords many bars and restaurants (indeed a disproportionate number for so a small a town - I counted about 20!) I enjoyed the scenery and going on walks in the countryside and there's even the Usako waterfalls a 15-minute walk away. The hotel is well equipped with a restaurant...

「 Belle bâtisse et l'intérieur est magnifique Très grande et belle chambre qui était très propre et en très bon état. La literie était très confortable. Il y a un bar ou l'on peut manger des tapas en prenant un verre pour un prix très raisonnable. Nous sommes arrivés vers 17h et c'est le serveur qui fait office de réceptionnaire de l'hôtel. Dommage que l'on ne parle pas Français dans cet établissement. Il n'y a plus de restaurant à l'hôtel et pas grand chose dans le secteur, hormis derrière...

「Very nice attention, in the middle of the mountain, with very friendly owners, and home made breakfast. Not a lot of options for dining close by, so be prepared to bring things for dining, or travel a little to get to a restaurant during the week (there are restaurants close by in Ea on the weekends, 5 minutes away from the property). Regardless of this, we liked a lot our stay in Udaibai Etxea.」
